Damn, gotta say I came up with the same system as Erah so I am pretty devastated to see it fail so hard.

His comm system was pretty crap to be fair.

You should have two fire teams per squad.

Secondary fire team should operate under the SL's command and moved accoding to the SL's call on the fly.

The minimum for a drop on base should be 8 people, Valk strike teams are underwhelming when you're fighting an enemy that will reincofrce attacked bases.

Just a short Idea:

Why don´t leave the whole firteam thing aside. Play together with the same 12 people and then you have a structure that forms itself!

It's still a 12 man squad, but Erah, Leon and myself think that additional leadership within the squad can be a good thing.

Hey I'm with you on that. Fireteams can be useful tough it needs more coordination (and not separation from the other half of the squad)

Well it isn´t necesarily bad but you need a lot more training and a lot more trained leaders to do so. In the end every third player needs to know how to lead to get efficient fireteams.

DVS ops was better than the last time but not significantly so imo. Team comms were better, individual order following sometimes still lacking. Not a fan of Erah's leading still. I'm all for fighting against overpop but that's as long as you still have a chance to defend or capture the base which most of the time was just not happening.

Especially so on Allatum Broadcast where drops weren't synced and we were denied the ability to get any hard spawns up. Essentially dropping small strike-teams on their own and hoping they manage to hold out long enough for everyone else to drop as well which just is not gonna happen. He said that it's a closed base so that's why we don't have to worry about dealing with enemy armor but that just means defenders are free to encircle the base with sundies and infantry. That in turn forces us to stack A point but in that building enemies will just have a shooting and nade gallery through all the openings.

Reminds me of the RMIS style but without the skill and squad cohesion needed. Far from the BAWC combined arms style.

For me the biggest problem was Erahs choice of targets. First quarts ridge, that is a hard base to take + we didn't have enough spawns or armor protecting our sunderers. Then briggs, indar comm and alatum in the beginning with TR overpop. After that he attacked bases with huge enemy overpop.

We lacked spawns on almost all bases and the valkyries died to fast to be of use as spawns.

And it did feel empty or disconnected with different com channels. It was more like all squads was different platoons.

Yesterdays platoon was much better.

But I guess it worked good anyway because we won the alert Smile

The base south of Quarts Ridge could have been done a lot better - I liked the idea of assigning different fire-teams to guard different areas, but with uncontested enemy pop, no air-support to keep them on their toes, no armor to cover the spawns and thus no spawns etc. the idea of sending teams of less than 12 or even 12 people to hold different areas became utterly dumb. The VS simply overwhelmed a little area at a time and ran us down, several times in a row then crushed the center because there was no solid hold of any doors. Had he assigned teams to different doors and areas in the same A-point building we may have held longer and wasted more of the VS' time.

Also, what Thunde said. Highly separated teams of, what, 6 people? 6 people per team is weak on the tactical level unless they all deploy right on top of each other to overlap defenses, again for instance covering different areas of the same general structure, not different areas of the same base. It's to little, to thin when the enemy is a large mass of pricks floating around wherever they like without a care in the world because all we got is half a platoon worth of infantry. Those kind of numbers have to be kept tighter when dealing with enemy over-pop, no matter how much we fragment the orders locally.

Lastly, I did show up late so I've no idea, again, how the whole thing was like but once we gathered all members in one channel and PL's were trying to give orders, to much white noise was allowed. I think DVS needs to be reminded - or told - what 'clear coms' means, and to follow it.

Other than that, we did win the alert and lock cancer-side to, that's good. Ran a lot of cheap gal-drops at the end on Esamir and finally a few ESF runs for some nice team-oriented hellfire delivery. In spite of many clearly being rusty with that it was... pretty damn sweet, I must say.

That. 100% that.
Erah was a RMIS officer for a long time and that's why he is so used to that leading style. He can't adapt and he can't see why his current leading fails.

I hope we see Shinzawai lead in the near future, I have a feeling he is a guy with great potential. Played with him in a server smash, and while he wasn't leading he made the same callouts as me, if not better.

I only see 6 man squads really working when you make them specialized squads, but an entire platoon just doesn't work, especially because communication between squads is limmited.
Also Galaxies work way better as spawn points then Valkeries.

Maybe some leadership training with DVS should be good.

For them I think. They have people's that want to lead but they need more practice to be like BAWC.
